Thank You, Mom
Sometime before 2005
I believe this was a poem I wrote for my mother on Mother’s Day.
I really want to thank you for drying my tears.
For only you know how.
I want to thank you for helping me when I wanted to give up.
You always give me hope.
Thank you for smiling, even when you had a bad day.
Your smile lights the world.
Thank you for surprising me with something special when you come home from work.
That’s when I know you’ve been thinking of me throughout the day.
Thank you for making me laugh when my day was blue.
I would be blue now if it wasn’t for you.
Thank you for taking the time to tuck me in at night.
I hope you always will.
Thank you for taking me to special places.
I love to spend time with my one and only mom.
Thank you for teaching me all I need to know.
I’d flunk without you.
Thank you for loving me more than you can say.
I love you just as much.
Thank you for putting a smile on my face.
I couldn’t go without one.
I really want to thank you for taking me to church.
That way I know there is only one God.
